OUTDOOR LEARNING
Being Eco Schools, we believe learning outdoors is essential to our curriculum offer. Our school grounds are well developed with vegetable plots for each class; it is well worth a look on our Virtual Tour and Drone Tours, which can be found on the 'Join Us' tab for each school.
We employ Mrs Husband as our Environmental Tutor; she teaches gardening and Forest Schools to each class, for an hour per week. Sutton upon Derwent have their sessions on a Wednesday and Bugthorpe have their sessions on a Thursday.
Outdoor learning ensures every child can experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstance.
Our outdoor learning areas include: wildlife garden, reflective garden, vegetable plots, school pond, greenhouse (and a polytunnel at Sutton upon Derwent).
